  • Overview

    The product developer is responsible to design, plan, coordinate, conduct, evaluate and document all development activities within the fields of new and existing products.  He/she develops and implements new and/or experimental materials and maintains these materials along with the products produced from them.  This includes validation and upkeep of product specifications, testing methods, and production material to tesa set standards.  He/she will travel to suppliers and customers as needed to extend and intensify the product knowledge of targeted applications and pain points.  The product developer will need to work closely with international R&D groups in Germany and China, the relevant marketing groups, and sales teams for each region.   


    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Support product development projects and investigate new product development opportunities.
    • Interface customers to validate performance of samples during the initiation and development phase of a project.
    • Work within the framework of the global tesa standard and ISO/TS16949 requirements.
    • Uphold company safety, environmental, quality and laboratory standards.
    • Interpret laboratory and field test studies and compose professional reports in an understandable manner.
    • Leading and coordinating product development projects meeting technical, price and timeline requirements.
    • Analyse complex results generated by standard and non-standard test methods.
    • Independently operate and maintain all relevant lab equipment.
    • Evaluate, maintain and implement raw materials.
    • Support and consult marketing and sales functions as well as customers in product assortment knowledge and product related testing.
    • Create a network with adjacent functions (sales, marketing, R&D Headquarters) as necessary to accomplish the project targets.




    • PhD or Master’s with concentration in chemistry / engineering / science or equivalent technical experience with 2-4 years of experience preferred.
    • Market-relevant experience in similar or related field preferred.
    • Knowledge of mathematics, including general statistics is required.
    • Excellent communication skills for interaction with all internal and external customers.
    • Ability to stand at a workstation and/or move throughout the facility during the majority of the day.
    • Requires normal lifting, use of both hands, correctable vision and lack of colour-blindness.
    • Must be able to travel by air/auto as required, including international. (Up to 10%)
