  • Overview

    The Key Account Manager (KAM)  is the owner of and the expert for the assigned Automotive Tier 1 Suppliers  and their value chain covering all programs/projects relevant to the Automotive Supply Base.  The KAM builds relationships and develops/executes strategies to fully penetrate the assigned automotive suppliers.  The KAM positions tesa at the Supplier, coordinates sales activities and sales teams throughout the value chain and effectively drives long term business development with the Tier 1 Supplier.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyses and understands the OESs platforms, model pipeline and time schedules; based on this he/she identifies and prioritises tesa projects and defines leads for the relevant country organization
    • Steers the specification process by coordinating OEM specification engineer(s) as well as local Sales, tCC, R&D and Marketing resources
    • Actively builds networks inside customer organizations (tech center, plants, labs); drives multiple-contact management in liaison with local teams
    • Ensures that all dimensions of tesa offer fits to the assigned OES/VC: Logistic, application system, price, product
    • Monitors the OESs quality evaluation system and thus monitors tesa quality performance as measured by the customer; if necessary he/she initiates appropriate corrective action
    • Ensures carry-over-business, i.e. follows face lifts, model changes and new models per platform
    • Build customer map to utilize a complete network inside the OES/VC to identify future concepts, trends and applications
    • Collects precise product needs, new ideas, concepts and requests regarding New Product Development from the various engineering departments of the OES/VC and our own teams; he/she provides these to the Marketing team
    • Feeds tesa support function (tSN) with customer requirements beyond product and application
    • Agrees with local organizations on priorities and coordinates the team’s activities
    • Provides or ensures commercial and technical support to local sales teams: Product Presentation – Road show – Tech days – Cost Break Down proposals
    • Provides or ensures adequate customer specific trainings and peer group meetings
    • Leads the communication on all major global issues concerning the OES/VC like quality, logistics, internal changes and new products

    Qualifications

    • Education:  Bachelor’s degree with Engineering Major preferred
    • Strong understanding of selling concepts and automotive market
    • Strong characteristics of empathy, ego drive, ego strength and relationship building skills
    • Must have a current, valid driver’s license
    • Must be able and willing to travel (by both air & auto) 50% of the time
    • Skilled and proficient in use of computers to include but not limited to Microsoft products-Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint-as well as ability to use Customer Relationship Management software programs
